Rate of sexual offences per 1,000 people. Police recorded crime data are supplied to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) by the Home Office. Includes all police-recorded sexual offences, including sexual or indecent assault, sexual grooming, trafficking for sexual exploitation, and rape. This category excludes prostitution-related offences (unless involving children), which are included in ‘other miscellaneous crimes against society’. The rate was calculated using the previous year’s population mid-year estimate. |
