Description Number of people aged between 17 and 24 years who are claiming Job Seeker's Allowance (JSA). The data on which the count is based are derived from the Jobcentre Plus administrative system for paying JSA. They relate to all JSA claimants, including people who do not receive any benefit payment but who sign on for National Insurance credits only to preserve their eligibility for state pension. They enter into a Jobseeker's agreement setting out the action they will take to find work and improve their prospects of finding employment. Data is rounded to nearest 5. The population figures are taken from the population estimates that were available at the date of publication.
