% of Job Seeker's Allowance claimants who are aged 17-24 | Local Authority | Dec 2020

Title Percentage of Job Seeker's Allowance claimants who are aged 17-24
Description Percentage of Job Seeker's Allowance claimants who are aged 17-24. This is calculated using the number of JSA claimants as the denominator, and the number of JSA claimants who are aged 17-24 as the numerator. The data on which the count is based are derived from the Jobcentre Plus administrative system for paying JSA. They relate to all JSA claimants, including people who do not receive any benefit payment but who sign on for National Insurance credits only to preserve their eligibility for state pension. Claimants must declare that they are out of work, capable of, available for and actively seeking work during the week in which their claim is made. They enter into a Jobseeker's agreement setting out the action they will take to find work and improve their prospects of finding employment.
