Rate of fraud offences per 1,000 people | Local Authority | FY 2004-05

Title Rate of fraud offences per 1,000 people
Description Rate of fraud offences per 1,000 people. Police recorded crime data are supplied to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) by the Home Office. Under the Fraud Act 2006 fraud is defined as dishonestly making a false representation to obtain property or money for themselves or another. The rate was calculated using the previous year’s population mid-year estimate. Action Fraud have taken over the recording of fraud offences on behalf of individual police forces. This process began in April 2011 and was rolled out to all police forces by March 2013. Due to this change, caution should be taken when comparing data during this period and with previous years.
