Description Rate of robbery per 1,000 people. Police recorded crime data are supplied to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) by the Home Office. Includes all police-recorded crimes of robbery, where the offender has used force (or threatened to do so) in order to steal something. This includes stealing both from an individual (robbery of personal property) and from a business (robbery of business property). This category also includes assaults with attempt to commit a robbery. The rate was calculated using the previous year’s population mid-year estimate.
