Description Rate of theft offences per 1,000 people. Police recorded crime data are supplied to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) by the Home Office. Theft offences include Burglary, Domestic burglary, Non-domestic burglary, Vehicle offences, Theft from the person, Bicycle theft, Shoplifting and all other theft offenses. The rate was calculated using the previous year’s population mid-year estimate.
